Hailed as a "fireworks soloist," (ConcertoNet) New York City area based violinist and historical performance specialist Sarah Jane Kenner is a multifaceted artist who performs throughout the U.S. and internationally.
Sarah made her Lincoln Center solo debut in 2018 as a soloist with Juilliard415, Juilliard’s period instrument ensemble. Her regular engagements now include performances with groups such as The English Concert, Trinity Wall Street, TENET Vocal Artists, New York Baroque Incorporated, and The Sebastians, amongst others. She has also enjoyed giving recent solo recitals with the Gotham Early Music Scene and Ars Musica Chicago. Her festival appearances include Teatro Nuovo, BachFest Leipzig with members of Juilliard415 and Bach Collegium Japan, and with Les Arts Florissants at the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie in Thiré, France. She can also be heard playing period and modern violins on the Academy Award-winning score of the 2019 film, Joker.
As a modern violinist, Sarah has led or held principal positions in a number of ensembles, including the Manhattan School of Music Chamber Sinfonia, Texas Music Festival Orchestra, and Temple Symphony Orchestra. She has played in master classes for notable artists including Arnold Steinhardt, Glenn Dicterow, and Koichiro Harada. Ms. Kenner also studied at the Aspen, Bowdoin, Texas, and Duxbury Music Festivals.
Sarah’s principal teachers include Cynthia Roberts, Elizabeth Blumenstock, Rachel Podger, Leah Nelson, Hirono Oka, and Lucie Robert. Sarah is an American Fellow of The English Concert and was named a Mercury/Juilliard fellow in 2018-19. She holds an undergraduate degree from the Boyer College of Music at Temple University, and graduate degrees from The Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School.
